Tendrils drift upward through dark water. Roots reach down into something ancient and fertile. Seaweed hangs mid-sway in a current that has no surface and no floor. No way to tell which direction is up, or whether the form is rising or settling. Marceau lives in that suspension.
Light does the rest. Cast glass this thick doesn't reflect so much as absorb and release. Greens deepen toward the base where the growth is heaviest, paling toward the top where the tendrils thin and let the light through. Shadows pool in the recesses of the relief and shift as the day moves, so the piece never quite holds still.
a limb of glass with real weight, pressed deep into the surface.
