The relief begins with a sculpted form taken into a mold. We paint with glass, laying crushed color and fragments into its contours. Layer upon layer, the glass follows the terrain of the mold, gathering in its hollows and tracing its raised passages. A landscape of color takes shape within the sculpted form before it enters the kiln.
The edition is an extended study of Citrine d’Eau. Each casting is composed by hand, with slight shifts in the placement and layering of color. Across the edition these variations remain a whisper, each piece holding a subtly different reading of the same palette.
Occasionally firing reveals an unexpected marking, a faint trace of another color within the glass. We keep these as birthmarks, particular to the piece and part of its character.
Marceau brings together unruly roots and floating seed pods in an invented botanical form. Fine strands thicken into heavier limbs, drifting outward and curling inward. The relief holds these movements in place without resolving whether the form is rising or settling.
Marceau was among our first studies in cast glass. Its pods became a recurring motif, carrying the idea that each work holds the seeds of another. In the medallion the forms gather around a small central pod, enclosed by a halo of color.
Held just off the wall, the glass receives light from behind. Changes in thickness become visible through passages of light and shadow, revealing the depth of the relief and the color composed within it.
Each work is engraved with the Offrande mark and edition number and accompanied by a certificate.
